What's - Swiss Steak Recipes

Swiss steak has nothing to do with Swiss or Switzerland! It is just a way of cooking the steak - slow cooking the steak by rolling or pounding, and then braising in a cooking pot. The word "Swiss" means to pound something so to make it tender and soft.

Swiss Steak's Recipes use a usually tough cut beef, like a round steak to make the swiss steak a nice steak meal.

How To Cook - Swiss Beef Steak Recipes

  • Place the round swiss steak in a plate or pot

  • Dust the steak with flour, garlic powder, salt, pepper, rub all ingredients on both sides of the steak

  • Heat the heavy skillet to medium heat

  • Add vegetable oil (or olive, canola) into the skillet

  • Place the swiss steak into the skillet to cook each side 8 minutes

  • Take the swiss steak out of the skillet when the beef is brown on both sides, rest for 2 minutes

  • Put garlic, tomato (or tomato sauce), onion, bell pepper and water into the skillet, cook for 3 minutes

  • Transfer everything from the skillet into a slow cooker

  • Return the swiss steak into the slow cooker as well, mix all evenly

  • Cover with a high lids so to keep more steam & moisture for the steak inside

  • Cook on low heat for 80 miutes, check if more water, salt, peper is needed

  • Star to cook the fresh vegetables which will serve together with the steak. Carrots, patato, brocolli, green beans, whatever you like

  • Flip the steam, add the vegetables and cook the steak for another 20 minutes until the beef is tender

  • Remove the steak from cooker, cut it into smaller pieces on a chop board

  • Place them into a plate and serve with vegetables
